Masthead Ideas
The masthead I will use for my magazine is 'Something Blue' as all the other magazines have completely different names meaning that this one will stand out more. As well as this, it can clearly be linked to weddings due to the saying 'Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue'. Also, it can link to my colour scheme which will have blue as a key colour.
Font Ideas
Here I have collected a variety of fonts, all from dafont.com, that I think would work well for a bridal magazine. When it come to making my magazine, I will have experiment with the different fonts to work out which ones will work best. Some of the calligraphy fonts can be quite hard to read and so they maybe won't be the best option for me to use when it comes to my masthead or sell lines as he audience might not be able to read what it says. However, some of the simpler fonts do not really seem to match the theme of a bridal magazine. I will come up with different options for my masthead using some of these fonts.

Billboard Deconstructions
Here are my three deconstructions of bridal billboards. From my research there does not seem to be many, if any, billboards for bridal magazines in existence and so I had to do my deconstructions using billboards what are for other bridal companies/events. From doing these deconstructions I now know which codes and conventions are usually used in bridal billboards, I will be choosing to take inspiration from some of these codes and conventions such as: the layout and composition, font styles, images and colour schemes. However, my colour scheme will match my magazine and website so that there is a clear theme tying them together.
Advert Deconstructions
Here are my two deconstructions of adverts that could be found in a bridal magazine. From deconstructing these adverts I now know what I should include in my own advert to make it successful. I will try to follow a similar layout to these adverts and will try to use similar images. I know what fonts are best to use due to what I have discovered from deconstructing these adverts. I will take inspiration from the layout and composition of both adverts and I will take inspiration from the different images used. I will be more likely to take inspiration from the Estee Lauder advert as this is actually an advert that has been used in magazines, whereas the other advert looks more like a flyer than a magazine advert. I will probably use more essential information like in the first advert, however as the Estee Lauder advert has a distinct lack of information on it.

Competition
Competition from Hannah Ould
Here I have shown my magazine competitions. Only one of these magazines (Belle Bridal) is a North East based regional magazine and so this will be the main competition of my magazine. I will try to make my magazine stand out against the competition by having a unique masthead name, unique colour scheme and intriguing images.

Difference Between National and Regional Magazines
Here I have highlighted and outlined the differences between national and regional magazines. My magazine will be a regional bridal magazine and so I will be using the regional criteria for my magazine rather than the national criteria. I will not be using colloquial language, however, as I do not feel that it would be appropriate for a bridal magazine. I will be including specific landmarks and features based in the North East so that it is clear that this is a North East based regional magazine.

Generic Conventions of a Website
Here are the generic conventions of a bridal magazine website. I will be using most of these generic conventions when it comes to making my website so that it looks professional and sophisticated like existing bridal magazine websites. From this research I know what to include in my website to make it successful. I will subvert the colour scheme, however, so that it matches my magazine and billboard.

AS Reflection
From creating my own music magazine last year, I now know how the codes and conventions needed to create a successful magazine and I have learned how to use photoshop to successfully create my own magazine. However, this year I will be creating a Bridal Magazine which is drastically different from a Pop Music Magazine. I am, also, aware how much effort and work needs to go into the coursework for this. I will be more successful this year as I am more familiar with the workload and the effort it requires.

Generic Conventions of a Magazine

Here is my generic conventions of a bridal magazine front cover, contents page, advert and article. When creating my magazine I will be using and subverting the conventions from this as they are clearly successful in existing magazines. These conventions help make the magazine professional and I will try to follow them all as best as I can. I will most likely be using a similar layout for every page in the magazine due to how organised they are. I will be trying to use similar images throughout as well but will be subverting the colour scheme so that it matches my masthead 'Something Blue'.
Generic Conventions of a Billboard
Here is my generic conventions of a billboard. From doing this, I can see what is usually included in a bridal billboard and what I should include in my own billboard. I will be using most of these conventions, however when it comes to making my billboard I may decide to subvert some of them as I might not feel it is appropriate for my bridal magazine billboard. It is likely that I will only have one image on my billboard and that the layout will be somewhat similar to this one as clearly this one is already professional and success.

Institution Research
https://prezi.com/view/flCjKfibWP7kxyQ4wIeA/
From my institution research I now know what institution I think would be best to own my magazine. I chose Hearst as it is a UK based institution and seeing as my magazine is a regional magazine in the North East I thought it made more sense to have a UK based institution rather than a worldwide one. As well as this, Hearst has been around for a while and so has a lot of experience and respect in the industry. Furthermore, it does not currently own any bridal magazines and so there is a gap in their market for one.

End
Today, I have made Pinterest boards for makeup ideas, costume ideas and prop ideas. Next time I will be finishing the inspirations part of the checklist and starting on similar products.
Prop Ideas
I have collected ideas for props in this Pinterest board. I will take inspiration from this for my magazine and will try to take similar photos of similar things. It is likely that I will use a bouquet in pictures with my model as most brides carry a bouquet with them when they get married. However, I will have to consider which of the other props I think would work well for my magazine.
Costume Ideas
Here are some ideas for the costumes for the models in my magazine. I have gathered ideas for brides, grooms, bridemaids and guests. Hopefully, I will be able to have something similar for my magazine. At a later date, I will finalize the costumes requires for my photoshoot so that my models will know what they are required to wear.
Makeup Ideas
Here are my ideas for makeup for the model on my magazine. I like the more dramatic eye makeup with nude/neutral lipstick. I will use similar makeup for my magazine. I will send this pinterest board to my model so that she knows what is expected of her for my photoshoot - she will recreate a similar makeup look for the photos.
