Website Homepage Draft

Here is my first draft of my Bridal Magazine Website. I have tried to follow my flat plan as best as possible for this draft. At the moment I have been mainly focusing on the layout of my home page. As well as this, I have tried to match my colour scheme as best as possible to my magazine drafts so that there is a clear link between the two. I have used my magazine masthead in the header of the website so that it is clear that this is the website for Something Blue magazine. At the moment, I have not used any of my original images as I have been focusing on the layout however I will be adding my own original images into the website.

Camera Angles and Shot Sizes

Here I have collated images of the different shot sizes that I could use in my magazine: Extra Long Shot, Long Shot, Medium Long Shot, Mid Shot, Medium Close Up, closes Up, Big Close Up, Extra Close Up. I have collated images of the different shot angles that I could use also: Low, Eye-Level, High, Worm's Eye, Canted and Birds Eye. For my magazine, most of the images will be at eye-level as it means the model will be more likely to make eye contact with the audience forming a direct mode of address. As well as this, for my front cover my dominant image will most likely be a Mid Shot or Medium Close Up. However, for the other images in my magazine, billboard and website I will use a mix of different shot sizes to add variety to the images used.

Lighting Research

Powered by emaze
Here I have researched into different types of lighting that are commonly used in magazines, film and TV. I have discovered the different types of lighting and what effect is given from them. From this research, I have decided that I will use natural lighting, high key lighting and possibly three point lighting as I like the look of these types of lighting and the effects that the lighting gives to the audience.

Reader Profile Research

Here, I have researched into existing reader profiles and identified what I should include in my own reader profile to make it successful. I have analysed NME and Kerrang!s reader profiles as both of theirs are already successful and said what I will take from theirs to make mine just as professional. I could not find any regional magazine reader profiles or any bridal magazine reader profiles and so I will just have to make sure that my reader profile is appropriate for a regional bridal magazine reader profile.

Masthead Research

Powered by emaze
I have done research into different bridal magazines mastheads and identified what I like about them and what I do not. I have, also, taken inspirations from these mastheads for my own masthead and shown how I was inspired by them when I created my own masthead. My main competition for my magazine will be Belle Bridal and so I had to try to make mine stand out whilst still matching the conventions required for a bridal masthead.

Website Inspirations

Website inspirations from Hannah Ould

Here are my website inspirations that I will consider when creating my own website. I particularly like the top row of inspirations as I feel like they look the most professional and suit the theme of a bridal magazine the best. I like the type of images that they've used as I feel like it will add to the overall look of my website if I use similar images. I will try to replicate the layout of the websites in order to make mine look as professional and as sophisticated as possible.

Billboard Inspirations

Billboard inspirations from Hannah Ould

Here are my billboard inspirations which I will use when it comes to making my own billboard. None of the billboards on here are Bridal Magazine Billboards but a lot of them are for other bridal/wedding companies/events. Some of the billboards on here are for fashion labels and will not quite fit the look for a magazine billboard but I liked their layout and so I may consider replicating something similar for my billboard. For the bridal billboards, I really like the images that they've used as you can clearly tell at a glance what the billboard is advertising - I may try to take some similar photos to see if they work for my billboard.

Costume Two

Wedding Outfit Two

I have chosen for this two be the outfit that my male model will wear as it is easy to replicate and will all be things that he has access to anyway. I chose to include a blue tie to match the colour scheme of 'blue' and the name of the magazine 'Something Blue'.

Initial Interview Feedback

Here is my feedback from my initial interviews with members of my target audience.

Audience Profiles

Audience profiles from Hannah Ould

From these audience profiles I can see the type of people my audience are. As well as this, I can see what they are interested in, their likes/dislikes, their lifestyle and their favorite shops. All of this will help me make sure that my magazine will appeal to my audience so that they will read it.

In this lesson, I plan to create my audience profiles.

3rd October 2017

In this lesson, I will plan questions for my interview and begin my draft of contents page.

End

I have planned my questions and done a first draft of my contents page.

Contents Page Draft

Here is my first attempt at a Contents Page for my Bridal Magazine. I have stuck to my flat plan as best as possible, however I have not included the two sub images from my flat plan. The dominant image that I have used will more than likely not be the image that I use in my final product as it is too similar to the one on my billboard and front cover. I changed the image so that it would be in black and white with a slight blue filter over the top so that it will tie in with the colour scheme and masthead name. I have, also, added a shadow to the dominant image to draw the readers attention however I am not sure whether I like the look of it with the rest of the page. I have used the font Darleston from dafont.com for the heading and the page numbers as I think it adds to the bridal theme  and makes it look more sophisticated. I have position the masthead in the top left hand corner to tie in with the front cover. The rest of the text is written in 'Caviar Dreams' and 'Adam' - both from dafont.com. These fonts look very similar but are in fact different - the slight differences will add some diversity onto the page.

Question Plan for Interview

Using Evernote, I have created a checklist of questions that I will ask during an interview. I have tried to use different questions from my surveys so that I have a variety of different information/data that will help me when it comes to making my products/making my products better.I decided to use Evernote so that I can tick off the questions after I have asked them and so that I can keep track of the ones I have already asked so as to avoid repeating questions or losing track of where I am up to. I have, also, chosen to use Evernote so that I can keep my questions on my phone rather than using some paper - I can keep all of the data in one place.

Initial Ideas on Target Audience

Here is my initial ideas on target audience. From doing this, I have identified who I think my initial target audience would be and what type of lifestyle they would have, as well as their interests, likes and dislikes. I have, also, identified who I think my secondary target audience would be. From doing this I know what type of things I need to include in my magazine to appeal to my target audience. Furthermore, I know how to appeal to my secondary target audience too. I will do further research to find out whether this is actually correct about my target audience.
